Indications for use Valium

Neurosis, neurasthenia, hysteria, reactive depression, agoraphobia, insomnia associated with the breaking phase of sleep, Meniere’s disease, spastic paralysis, withdrawal symptoms in patients with alcoholism, status epilepticus, epilepsy, premedication before surgery and endoscopic manipulations; LSD poisoning.

Valium (Diazepam) dosage and administration

Adults with neurosis, neurasthenia, hysteria, spastic paralysis, prevention of epileptic seizures: 2-10 mg 3-4 times a day. Withdrawal symptoms in patients with alcoholism: 10 mg 3-4 times in the first day, followed by a daily dose reduction to 5 mg 3-4 times a day. In elderly patients with single dose of 1-2.5 mg 3-4 times a day. If necessary, the dose gradually increased. Children over 6 months of drug administered at a dose of 1-2.5 mg 3-4 times a day (if necessary, the dose gradually increased).

Contraindications

Increased sensitivity, acute liver disease and kidney violation of their duties, myasthenia gravis, angle-closure glaucoma, I trimester of pregnancy, breast-feeding.

Valium side effects

Addictive, paradoxical reactions (development of anxiety, hallucinations, seizures, insomnia), reaction speed and concentration, drowsiness, blurred short-term memory, ataxia, dysarthria, headache, dizziness, hypotension, bradycardia, prolonged use of liver and kidney damage, atony bowel, loss of libido and potency, reactions to the injection site, the syndrome of “lifting” syndrome-effect (decreased performance, muscle weakness), and allergic reactions.

Diazepam overdose

Action of Valium

Valium Interaction

Valium enhances the effects of alcohol, anticonvulsants and antihypertensives, analgesics, hypnotics. MAO inhibitors, analeptic agents, stimulants reduce the activity.

Valium storage conditions

Valium should be stored in a dry, dark place at room temperature.
